This group meets on the 3rd Monday of each month at noon. It is an informal gathering of seniors who wish to have a meal together, (potluck style). They bring a dish to share (if possible) and their own table service. There is fun, food and lots of laughter! Midis meets on the 2nd Saturday of the month at 6:00 pm for a potluck meal. This group usually meets at the church but, occasionally meets in the summer months at one of the member's home. The needlecrafting group meets on Thursday mornings from 10am until about noon in the 'conference room' on the main floor, across from the church office.
Some of the items they enjoy making are:
Chemo caps
Prayer Shawls
Baby blankets
Preemie blankets
Lap robes
Twin size afghans
.....with most being made from donated yarn and all are given away.
The group also makes some other items to be sold at the annual UMW bazaar. And sometimes they are knitting on a project for themselves but enjoy the fellowship of the group. If you would like to learn a needlecraft, they are very good at teaching knitting, crochet and other needle crafts. Anyone is welcome to come share in the fellowship and joy of needlecrafting. The APUMC Quilting Group, better known as "The Ladies of the Stitch", meet every Tuesday from 9:30 am - Noon in the quilting room, which seems to keep migrating around the church. For the current location, you might check with Jan Oman in the church office as you enter the building from the Milton St. side entrance. This fun group has a 'no rules' policy and welcomes beginning quilters or the very experienced. If you've got an itch to stitch this is the group of groupies for you! This group meets in July to plan the next years' activities. They usually meet about every 6 to 8 weeks and could gather at someone's home for dinner or perhaps at Twinlow Camp for a retreat.
