A Spokane native, I joined Audubon Park UMC when I became the choir director in the fall of 1997. I was impressed with the love and friendship that was offered to me, and the moment I walked in the door I knew I was home. My first directing experience was obtained at the Mead UMC church located just north of Spokane, where I directed the choir for 13 years. I have a wonderful husband and two daughters (and Yukon - the world's greatest dog!) who have been my staunch supporters in all things musical and otherwise.
A graduate of Mead High School, and of Whitworth University (It was Whitworth College in the 'Way Back Machine') with a Masters Degree in Education, I spend my weekdays as a full time developmental music teacher at Willard Elementary School. The remainder of my time is divided between directing Audubon's 18 member choir - the most wonderful choir in the world, writing - I published my first children's novel "The Professor's Telescope" in 2004 and am working on a sequel, quilting, reading, and my newest pursuit: family genealogy. My favorite experience as a choir director has always been our District Choir Festival where groups from all over the Spokane District gather to share music and fellowship. I have a great life filled with activities to enjoy and people to love. May God bless you as He has truly blessed me!

Hello! My name is Carol Hendershot and I direct the Jubilee Bells at Audubon Park UMC. This is a position that I have held since 1996. I was born in Lancaster, PA. I married my husband, Rich Hendershot in December of 1989. We moved to Spokane in January of 1990. We first attended Audubon Park UMC in Febuary of 1990 and were immediately wecomed by the families in the church. We made Audubon Park our church home in early 1990. In 1992 we welcomed our son Scott into our lives and have been blessed by the support the church has provided to him as he has grown over the years. I enjoy my work as a pediatric therapist at the Spokane Guilds' Schoo;, where I have worked since March of 1990. In my spare time I like to quilt, stamp, play piano and volunteer at the local elementary school.
It sometimes amazes me that I am directing a bell choir since I have no professional training in music or directing. I did take piano lessons for many years. I sang in church choirs from elementary school through early adulthood. I also played in my church bell choir when I was in junior high and high school. After college an adult bell choir wqas formed at my church and I joined the group as well. When Rich and I moved to Spokane I was interested in Audubon Park because of the strong choir and bell choir. I joined the Jubille Bells and former director, Cathy Fink, began to challenge me to expand my ringing skills. When Cathy decided to pursue some other interests I moved into the position of director. I try to keep the bell ringers challenged while we have fun ringing and praising God. I also serve on the worship team and belong to a Sheperding Group.
Carol
Let us all welcome Judy Prime!!!!!
