STEPHEN MINISTRY
Audubon Park United Methodist Church has an active Stephen Ministry program, which means we have a group of trained lay people who provide one-on-one listening and Christian care, to people in need of support through life's changes and challenges. The Stephen Ministers are church members who have completed 50 hours of initial training before they are commissioned. This training, along with continuing education and supervision, prepares them to help others through situations such as divorce, grief (loss of a family member in death), hospitalization, loss of a job, or other difficult stresses in life. We are very pleased to have a new class of ministers that start training on January 17th of 2008. When they finish their training, we will have 10 Stephen Ministers available to serve our congregation.
Thousands of congregations representing many denominations, from all over the U.S. and Canada, and in 20 other countries, are using the Stephen Ministry program to enhance "Christ Caring for People through People". The national web site is:

The Stephen Leader doing referrals is
Barbara White. She would like you to contact her, through the church office, if you or someone you know could use a Stephen Minister to help you heal.
